Recently, I’ve been worrying a lot and dealing with countless intrusive thoughts. I’ve been worrying about various things such as possible failures in the future, unfavorable experiences of the past, things that could go wrong with me, and so on. This anxiety is trying to conquer my very existence, but I will fight as any lover of life would be willing to do. I will not let that which I do not enjoy or benefit from control my life.
Due to my competitive background in mindset and in athletics, I have decided to combat my anxiety with a game of mine. Life is only big playground that is composed of many, many games. The objective of The Now Game is quite simple and that is to cease worrying about anything that doesn’t relate to whatever it is you are currently doing. The Now Game requires you to live in the present moment. There is absolutely no time to revisit bad and unfavorable experiences of the past, nor is there any time to ponder about your future. All your energy is only allotted for the present moment.
Any thought that causes you to lose focus of whatever your objective is right now must be terminated upon recognition. This game is the same as one of those shoot-em-up games where you go out and shoot thousands of zombies, except for in The Now Game you are shooting thoughts that take you away from the present moment. This game is all about control and domination; either you will shoot (or cease) your thoughts of fear and worry or they will overrun you and tear you apart just as a gang of zombies would!
For those of you who are competitive, this game will be very liberating for you. Most people think that having a competitive mindset is the antithesis of stopping worrying, but that notion doesn’t hold true when playing The Now Game. You want to win this game no matter what and the only way to victory is to live in the present moment. This is a very simple game that will add a lot of value (in the sense of your well-being, your health,your growth, your success, etc.) to your life. Are you ready to play?!
